The Bittersweet Sun Has Set on This Adventure We Called:

“The Weekly Podcast”

We’ve come to the final regular weekly podcast here at PSW News and The Parts in the Sum of the Whole Project, but at the same time, we celebrate the one year anniversary of it.  We will go through some of the news of the week, reminisce about the highs and lows of our year–and we even got the reviewer-in-residence Pat Harty with us in the studio this week.

Although the podcast is ending, everything else still goes on.  So stay with us on the Project’s many Facebook pages, and our Twitter account @PartsintheSum, and we will continue to get the news and information out.  (And stay tuned in the future as we are planning some more media projects.)

But, for this week, join us on our final podcast.  All this and more on this week’s FINAL Parts in the Sum Weekly Podcast!!

From all of us here: Bryan, Ronnie, Pat and Randy, thank you so much for giving us a great year!

graduation-voix

It’s our Graduation Special, throughout the show this week we will be hearing pieces from some commencement speeches given by the likes of Stephen Colbert and Conan O’Brian.

But between those little clips, we’re talking about the raging wildfires in California, the 10th anniversary of the first same sex wedding (and the insane reaction by some to the first openly gay football player drafted).  There are some important elections news: first in the Ukraine coming up, and second–they’ve finally counted the votes of a country with a population of 1.3 billion, and it turns out that the prime minister they elected had a ban placed on him by the United States almost a decade ago, which barred him from entering the United States, so that should be interesting since he’s a head of state now.

All this and more in our next-to-last regular weekly podcast.  So join us and be enlightened!

The National Guard fire tear gas to disperse the crowd of studen

This week marks remembrance of the shootings in 1970 at Kent State University in Ohio that resulted in four dead and more wounded at the hands of the National Guard.

One state down, this week marks the Kentucky Derby; a state or two and a district over marks the annual White House Correspondent’s Dinner.  We’ve had yet another “bomb train” derailment and fire, this week in Lynchburg, Virginia.  And we are catching up on the news we didn’t talk about last week because we were lazy and took the week off.  😉

All this–and more–in the first of the final four Parts in the Sum Weekly Podcasts.  Join us and listen.

Anonymous Letter Regarding Hunter Killed Has Been Released in Full

20140422-091454.jpg

by:R.e. Glenn (The Philosopher Monk), PSW News–Gallia County, Ohio

A few months ago we reported about a case involving a hunter that was shot near Bidwell, OH on the first day of hunting season, and that around a month after the shooting, the Gallia County Sheriff’s Department received an anonymous letter apologizing and claiming it was an accident.

At that time, the Sheriff would only release a small portion of the letter to the press in hopes that someone might recognize the handwriting.

They have since released the full letter. Read it for yourself, and if you can be of any help in identifying it’s author, please call the Gallia County Sheriff’s Department Tip Line at (740) 446-6555.

photo (1)A bit of a week for catastrophes with an avalanche on Everest and a ferry capsizing off of the shores of South Korea. This week also saw the one year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, and Bryan has a bit of an issue with how some media are reporting an aspect of it. So that’s all pretty sad.

But there was some “non-sad” stuff, too. Like the announcement of an upcoming addition to the Clinton clan, the Affordable Care Act (or, Obamacare, if you’d prefer) reaching 8 million enrollees, and, if you’d like to just take a drink and let all your cares melt away, Randy Yohe has come to spread the news of a winery you just might want to visit.

(Plus, Easter and 4/20 fall on the same day and you just know that Colorado has to love that!)

It’s another week.  We’re still hunting for missing flight 370, but the Australian Prime Minister seems to think they’ve located the ‘pinger’ from the airplane’s flight recorder and they’re doing a triangulation thing to pinpoint it.  Also, the coolest priest does the awesomest thing at a wedding.  (Yes, that is a word – awesomest, and I don’t care what anyone says….that’s is absolutely the right way to describe that priest’s wedding ceremony.)

Plus, Randy Yohe is back this week with a report from Ohio University’s Southern Campus, and he is telling us about a contest for high school kids who are interested in producing their own media.  Called the EMPixx Awards, it is something the Philosopher Monk wishes had been going on when he was in high school.

Also, we have a new combination to the prize vault, so listen for that.  And go check out the first Earth Day Feature, which is about food.  Also, check out the second Earth Day Feature (EDF) that will be posted on Wednesday, and it concerns water.

All this and more on this week’s Parts in the Sum Weekly Podcast!  Join us and be enlightened!  😉

P.S. – Letterman announced his retirement, and CBS announced they are putting long-time favorite of the Project Stephen Colbert in his place behind the desk!  Congrats, Stephen!!  (Though we shall miss the Report greatly).

The first of a four-part series has been released.  Called “The Earth Day Features”, each week we will look at a specific area that has to do with the environment and ourselves.  This first installment is on Food and GMOs.

Be sure to tune in next week, when the second Earth Day Feature will be dealing with Water and Natural Resources.

Later this evening, we, under the Project Pangaea part of the bigger Parts in the Sum of the Whole Project, are releasing and publishing the first of four documentary-type specials dealing with various aspects of the state of the world and it’s people that were important enough to bring to the attention of a wider public.  The first Earth Day Feature focuses on food. Supreme_Court_US_2010

Well, the Philosopher Monk survived his birthday AND his birthday party, so THE PODCAST GOES ON!!

This week we talk about how the Supreme Court made the jobs of the rich to buy off politics a whole lot easier.  We had another shooting at Fort Hood in Texas that might make us want to look harder at our returning vets and the problems they may be facing, and the ACM awards are on tonight, so if you like Country–there you go.

Also, we introduce a new contest, as it is a new month, so listen for how the new “Prize Vault Combination” contest goes and try to win some free stuff!

They STILL haven’t found the missing Flight 370, but that doesn’t mean that the first of a four-part series we are calling “The Earth Day Features” will be published this coming Wednesday.  It’s about food.  Everyone should watch it, but if you are a PARENT especially with YOUNG CHILDREN, you should definitely watch it.  And you’ll be able to, starting Wednesday.

So sit back, listen, and enjoy all this and more on this week’s Parts in the Sum Weekly Podcast!
